I got the dvd which includes the "re-making of" documentary entitled "The extraordinary Voyage" which features interviews with some of my all time favourite cinematic heroes Michel Gondry (director of some of the greatest music videos of the 90s and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind) and Jean - Pierre Jeunet (director the film I was so obsessed by I wrote my dissertation about Amelie). If you are as excited about childlike surrealism as I am, its definitely worth checking out !
A trip to the moon was originally released in 1902 by pioneer film-maker George Melies, filmed on black and white film and hand - painted colour frame by frame. The film was released just six years after the invention of cinema. The film was found in 1993 and restored, with such a great back story.

I spent the first half of this morning setting up my mini exhibition at Archway library, which coincidentally is one of my former work places. The exhibition will be up until 29th September running alongside the Archway with words festival, which has a brilliant line up. The two listings I'm looking forward to the most is the Michaela Coel performance one of my favourite British spoken word artist and the Kate Bush, Wuthering Height Flashmob on the 25th September. So even if you don't go to see my exhibition why not check out the other listings in the festival: http://www.archwaywithwords.com/ So anyone who knows me, knows my history of housing and thus my complete respect for the squatting community. Yesterday evening, I actually got to meet some of them in person as oppose to reading fabricated versions of them in tabloids and magazines. I attended a talk about #women in #squatting at a exhibition curated by made possible by squatting http://www.madepossiblebysquatting.co.uk/ I was completely inspired by the spirit for change these girls possessed and the unity that they had at achieving it. Genuine unity which is so sort after in cities such as London. After the talk, I looked around the exhibition and was impressed by the creative means of hanging and mounting works of all kinds.
I must say after St Paul's occupy rumours and coming across some ignorant so-called "left-wing" activists, I was beginning to lose faith in what I thought activism in this country was, but after such a warm reception from the guys at Dock street E1, I was left pleasantly surprised . As I was about to leave a delivery of food had arrived from the likes of shops like EAT and Pret disposing of edible food at the end of the day which in turn fuels the squatting community. One of the interviews I listened to in the exhibition was from one of the squatter's who said something along the lines of "the biggest injustice in the world today is waste, waste of food, space and life." I guess the table filled with sandwiches and rolls retrieved from bins proved his point. I made my way home in the rain with a brownie in hand and time to ponder. The exhibition goes on until the 16th September. Worth a visit, no matter what your views on squatting are. #London #Analogue #Festival : All things analogue, last day is tomorrow really worth a visit !7/9/2013 http://darkness.robertburley.com/
